Latex pillows are known as natural foam pillows because they are made
from the sap of rubber tree. The sap is foamed to create multiple tiny
air bubbles making the cushion to have soft and bouncy texture just like
latex.
In recent time, synthetic forms of latex are replacing naturelle latex pillow.
The synthetic latex is typically made from styrene-butadiene rubber.
These artificial pillows look and feel like natural latex pillows but
their durability is quite less compared to the natural counterparts.
Latex is generally manufactured in two main ways. They are
- Dunlop method: Latex is poured in to a mold to make the pillow.
- Talalay method: Latex is poured in to the mold in layer form, so that the pillow will have a number of layers.
Difference between latex and memory foam (another common option for pillow)
- Natural latex is chemical free and is often put in to green products as they are environment friendly. Pillows made of synthetic latex are also bouncy and highly durable. Memory foam which is another form of pillows is hundred percent man-made and created with specific weight absorption intention.
- Memory foam acts like an enhanced version of latex while latex (both synthetic and natural) is soft to touch and bounces back quickly, while memory foam is slower to bounce when compared to latex.
- Latex pillow variations are very less as they have a high quality with a matching premium price tag while memory foam pillows come in a wide range of in both price and quality wise.
If you plan to buy latex pillows, these three differences would help
you to decide if the pillow you selected is a memory foam pillow or a
latex pillow.
